Annapurna Yojana Documents: EPIC, Aadhaar and Active Mobile Number
The mandatory documents and contact detail listed by the West Bengal government for Annapurna Yojana applications.
The West Bengal government’s Annapurna Yojana page lists EPIC (Voter ID), Aadhaar Card and an active mobile number as mandatory documents/contact information.
EPIC / Voter ID
EPIC is the Elector Photo Identity Card. The government scheme page explicitly includes it in the mandatory-document list. Use the applicant’s own current voter identity information and make sure the name/details are consistent with the rest of the application where possible.
Aadhaar Card
Aadhaar is also listed as mandatory. Because Aadhaar is sensitive personal data, upload or present it only through the official government process. Do not send Aadhaar images to agents or unofficial sites offering to “verify” the application.
Active mobile number
The mobile number is not merely a contact detail. The Social Registry citizen interface uses the applied/registered mobile number for OTP-based access. Losing access to that number can therefore create problems when checking or claiming a family record.
Why consistency matters
West Bengal’s Social Registry is built to reconcile people and households across different departmental databases. Mismatched names, dates, mobile numbers or family mapping can complicate verification.
Documents not on the official three-item list
Third-party articles often add bank passbooks, ration cards, income papers or other documents. Some offices or verification processes may request additional records in specific cases, but the public Annapurna scheme page’s mandatory list is EPIC, Aadhaar and active mobile number. Keep that distinction clear.
Offline submission
If applying through BDO, SDO or KMC Ward office, carry the original/supporting documents as required by the office and keep an acknowledgement or receipt where available.
OTP is not a document to share
A mobile OTP is a temporary authentication credential. Enter it only on the official portal during your own session.
See the office-route guide and domain-safety guide.
Why EPIC matters in a registry context
EPIC provides an electoral identity reference while Aadhaar provides a separate identity layer. Reconciliation across identifiers can help detect mismatched or duplicate records, though the government—not this guide—decides how each record is validated.
Why an active mobile number is operationally important
It is required not only for contact but for the citizen OTP flow. If a submitted number is no longer controlled by the applicant, status/grievance access can become difficult and may require office assistance.
Keep copies readable and consistent
Names, spellings and basic identity details should be consistent across the documents you present where possible. A mismatch does not automatically mean rejection, but it can create a verification issue that needs correction.
Do not confuse required documents with possible supporting records
A local office may ask for supporting material in a particular case, especially when data needs correction. That is different from saying every applicant has a universal mandatory list longer than the three items published on the state scheme page.
Fixing documents before you apply
The most common document problem is a mobile number that is not linked to Aadhaar, or linked to an old number you no longer use. Without an active Aadhaar-linked mobile, OTP verification fails and the whole online process stalls. Fix this at an Aadhaar enrolment centre before starting the application — it is the single highest-value preparation step. Next, check that your EPIC details are current: address changes and name corrections on the voter ID take time, so start early. For the ration card, confirm it is an active digital ration card in an eligible category and that all family members are correctly listed. Doing this cleanup first turns the actual application into a smooth form-filling exercise instead of a scramble; skipping it turns every step into a blocker.
What counts as an active mobile number
"Active" means the number is in your name (or at least in your possession), can receive SMS right now, and will stay with you for months. Applications tied to a borrowed phone, a number you plan to change, or a SIM that is frequently switched off create problems later — status updates, OTPs for corrections, and payment notifications all go to this number. If you change your number after applying, update it through the official process promptly rather than assuming the old one still works.
